EIFS Exteriors

Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS) is synthetic stucco that has been used since just after World War II in Europe. Originally used by contractors to repair damaged stone, concrete and brick structures, it was thought to be a durable material. However, when used on wood, moisture related problems developed and class action lawsuits were filed. Now, drainage mats are installed to release moisture and eliminate problems. Another problem with EIFS can be bird holes created by woodpeckers and other birds.
